Rhodes 2022 Rhodes Old Town

Rhodes Old Town

The Medieval Quarter of Rhodes is not only one of the areas protected by UNESCO, but it also is the oldest inhabited medieval town in Europe. Now the principal city of the island, it is usually bursting with activity and interesting sights. The labyrinth of winding, stone streets beg the visitors to get lost in it – and if you do, you might never want to find your way out!

The island’s location between European, Asian, but also African coasts is the source of the city’s varied and colourful history, architecture and culture. Here, you may find ancient Greek and Roman artifacts, lots of influence of the medieval Knights of St John, historic mosques, synagogues, and gothic buildings. There’s a surprise behind every corner!
