What is Retinol and what skin concerns does it target?
Part of the vitamin A family, retinol is known for its ability to address a number of skin concerns, including fine lines, deep wrinkles and uneven skin texture. It works by promoting collagen synthesis and skin cell turnover, and increasing dermal water content, to smooth out fine lines and wrinkles and help refine skin texture.
What are the benefits of retinol for your skin?
· It provides significant improvement of skin’s surface texture
· It works deep below the skin’s surface at cellular level to help reduce deep wrinkles
· It helps to increase dermal water content for plumper-looking skin
· It works to increase the skin turnover rate for healthier-looking skin
When is the best time to start using retinol?
The production of collagen and elastin, responsible for skin’s elasticity and youthfulness, starts to gradually decrease already in your mid-twenties. This means that if you’ve reached your thirties or have noticed deeper, more persistent fine lines and wrinkles, it’s the best moment to introduce retinol to your skin care routine.
What’s special about Retinol Power Drops?
Our Retinol Power Drops is a concentrated treatment with potent 1.1% encapsulated retinol, which is the optimal concentration for the retinol newbies.
Retinol is highly sensitive to oxidation, sunlight, acidic conditions, and heavy metals, which results in reduced efficacy. That’s why our specialised version of retinol is encapsulated and delivered to the skin in a protective, single-layer polymeric shell that breaks down upon contact with the skin. This specialised delivery helps maximise potency and skin benefits.

How to use Retinol Power Drops?
All products from NovAge ProCeuticals range are designed to fit seamlessly into your regular NovAge skin care routine, as intensive treatments. Retinol should be applied only in the evening after cleansing your face, and before applying your eye cream. Simply fill the dropper with concentrate and apply 1-2 drops evenly over the entire face, neck and décolletage. Avoid the delicate eye area. Continue with the rest of your routine. For best results, use for 4-8 weeks as an intensive regimen. If you want to see how to apply retinol, watch our video tutorial.
Why should I apply retinol only in the evening?
Apply retinol only in the evening, as the sunlight can negatively impact the potent active. This product can also make your skin more sensitive to UV rays, so it’s extra important that you apply sunscreen and limit sun exposure while using retinol.
Can I use retinol with Vitamin C?
It’s not advised to use retinol at the same time as Vitamin C, as retinol helps shed the top layer of your skin, making it more sensitive to light and other actives, such as Vitamin C, if used in combination. It’s better to try one treatment at a time.
How to introduce retinol into your routine?
If you want, you can introduce retinol into your routine slowly, as it may cause irritation. You can use the product once during the first week, twice (non-consecutively) during the second week, three times (non-consecutively) during the third week, and so on until you find that your skin becomes accustomed to the potent active and can tolerate daily usage.
Before the first use, it’s best to perform a patch test to see how your skin reacts to the product. To do that, apply a small amount of retinol to a small area of clean skin on your inner forearm, keep the area dry for 24 hours and observe your skin’s reactions.
